If You Believe-You Will Achieve

Thank you to all of you who supported the Pepsi Refresh Project application that I submitted. Though I did not receive a grant for Ageless/Timeless, the goals of the submission have not been squelched. I was greatly influenced to follow my athletic pursuits because of my childhood hero John Kerns. John was an amazing local football star whom received a multitude of local and state awards due to his outstanding gridiron tenacity. I am sure many of you can relate to a childhood hero that shaped your path.

The Ageless Athletes can have this influence on children and young adults when the opportunity is provided. Can you imagine the influence of a 60 year old Odd Haugen lifting objects that require phenomenal strength, or Master Adam Ngyuen demonstrating Yoga movements that are beyond comprehension? What about Mike Flynt’s ageless pursuit to become the oldest active NCAA college football player in history? I firmly believe these and the many stories and demonstrations from Ageless Athletes will positively influence students to pursue a healthy lifestyle and reach for goals beyond athletic pursuits.

According to Michele Obama’s Let’s Move initiative page www.letsmove.gov/learnthefacts.php
“Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese. One third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives; many others will face chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma.”

I will continue to strive to attain funding to permit Ageless Athletes to present to school districts across the country. The positive influence that we can provide will serve as a catalyst to help many children and young adults change their lifestyles and become health oriented. It only takes one childhood hero to change a child. Ageless Athletes can and will be the change agents.
